Mrs. Mary Jane Mitchell, age 86, of Butler, Missouri went to be with her Lord Tuesday, November 15, 2016 surrounded by her family. Mary Jane was born September 10, 1930 in Conway, Kansas to Omor and Elizabeth Smith. She graduated High School in Arma, Kansas and married her High School “sweetheart” Donald L. Mitchell the same year on Sunday morning September 12, before Sunday school in Girard, Kansas.  They chose Sunday morning because of their favorite song at the time titled “Some Sunday Morning”.

Don and Mary Jane celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death in November of 2013. Together, they left a legacy of their love in their surviving family of four sons and their wives: Larry and Marcia, Shell Knob, Missouri, Tim and Marcia, Ottawa, Kansas, Mike and Denise, Lees Summit, Missouri and Ron and Glenda, Knoxville, Tennessee. Don and Mary Jane loved and cherished their nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Roy Childs and two sister-in-laws Veroma Bailey and Carol Mitchell along with many nieces and nephews.

The Reverend Don and Mary Jane Mitchell built their lives around raising four sons and being faithful servants to the Lord. She worked beside her husband while he served as pastor to churches in Kansas, Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska. Her favorite place was “home” surrounded by family. We all honor her legacy, her good life and her unconditional love for each of us.

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
