Lester L. “Windy” Harris, 84 of Drexel, passed away November 15, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Windy was born May 26, 1928 in St. Clair County, Mo., son of Chester Clay and Frances (Bolling) Harris. He attended school in several locations but graduated from Drexel High School. He went to work for the Bendix Corporation and remained there for 15 years.

Windy was united in marriage to Elsie Marie Brewster on August 21, 1948 at the home of Rev. Joe Brewster. Following his years at Bendix, Windy owned and operated Harris Standard Service in Drexel, which he continued for 19 years. He later owned Harris Tire in Drexel as well and following the sale of that business, went to work at Wal-Mart. Windy was a hard worker, who was not the stay-at-home type.

Windy was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue Harris. He is survived by his wife Elsie of Drexel; daughter Kathleen Koopman of Olathe, Kansas; son Tim Harris of Drexel; son Wayne Harris and wife Lynette of Drexel; and son David Harris and wife Karen of Rogers, Arkansas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as sisters Lucille Tucker and Loraine Cooper, and one brother, James E. Harris.
