David Ward

Graveside Funeral Services for David Ward will be at 10:30 AM Friday, August 3, 2012 at Scott Cemetery, Amsterdam, with Rev. Paul Burhart officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice of Butler. 

David Douglas Ward, 53 of Butler, went to be with the Lord July 31, 2012 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. David was born August 27, 1958 in Butler, son of Billy Ray and Juanita Kay (Welston) Ward.

David enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, collecting guns, and being outdoors. David also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked working on old cars and had owned Trans-Ams and Chevelles.

He moved to Oxford, Kansas where he worked as a mechanic for the Sumner County Road and Bridge Department.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Kay Ward of Butler, Missouri; father, Billy Ray Ward of Warsaw, Missouri; two daughters, Brittney Ward of Wellington, Kansas and Hannah Martin of Springfield, Missouri; and three brothers: Gregory Ward of Butler, Missouri, Jeffery Ward of Butler, Missouri and Michael Ward of Spruce, Missouri.

  1. To all of the family of David, I am so sorry for your loss. What a great guy he was! He had such a great personality! He always made me laugh. The Honky Tonk Man, rest in peace.

  2. Deepest condolences to the family of David. In the short I got to spend with him he always made me laugh. I will never forget him to weak to get out of bed, yet telling me if there was ever anything he could to help me out just to let him know, and I knew he truely meant it. Rest in Peace dear friend, God has gained yet another special angel.

  5. Billy, Kay, Gregory, Jeff and Mike, As I remember David today, I recall the summers riding bike and playing baseball. Of course school and just growing up in Amsterdam. Mom had been keeping me updated on David’s condition and I have been praying for him. Now my prayers trun to each of you as you deal with sorrow of losing a son and brother. Rocky

  6. I know it has been hard and I am Happy for David to finally be at peace. That does leave a hole in all your hearts though and I will be praying for all of his family and friends.
