Marjorie Walters

Marjorie M. Walters, 94 of LaCygne, KS, passed away November 29, 2011 at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Marjorie was born October 31, 1917 in Louisburg, daughter of Jessie (Jackson) and Ernest R. Bodenhamer. She graduated from Louisburg schools, and was united in marriage to Darwin E. Walters on September 11, 1938 in Olathe, KS. In 1940, she and Darwin moved to the farm, where they raised hogs for many years. Throughout her life Marjorie had many cats, and enjoyed feeding and spending time with them. Even recently she recalled several special memories of some of her cats. On the farm, Marjorie is remembered for always looking out for the neighbors’ cattle, giving them a friendly call whenever the cattle needed attention for something.
Marjorie was a Past Matron of Swan Chapter 311 from LaCygne, as well as Past District Aid chairperson and Past District Representative. She was a member of the New Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. She leaves behind many friends and neighbors, and the Wayne Marquis family who considered her a special part of their family.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Paola Cemetery, Paola, KS., with Rev. January Kiefer officiating. Visitation Friday evening, 6-8 PM at the Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel (816) 657-4400. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Lancaster United Methodist Church.
