Genevieve Harris, 94 of Amsterdam, Mo. departed this life on March 21, 2011 at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Louisburg, KS.
Genevieve was born September 17, 1916 in rural Westline, Mo., the daughter of Charles Arthur and Bertha Mae (Enloe) Smith. She was united in marriage to William Harris, who passed away in 1961. Genevieve was a homemaker and farm lady her entire life. Her family describes that she thrived on the farm, and always enjoyed keeping the farm place pristine – mowing everything in sight. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, two sisters Shirley Fink and Zadie Case, and one brother, Jack; as well as one grandson William Dean Harris and one granddaughter Michelle Purdon. She is survived by her two children, Wilma Smith and husband Ray of Drexel, Mo., and Gary Harris and wife Lana of Amsterdam. She also leaves behind two grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 25 in West Point Cemetery, Amsterdam, with Greg Mullinax presiding. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions in Genevieve’s name are suggested to West Point Cemetery, and may be left in care of the funeral home: PO Box 500, Drexel, MO 64742.

Gary and Lana, I’m so sorry to hear about your Mother’s passing. I read it in the Butler paper which I received today. We lost my Mother in January and Daddy last April so I know what you are going through and my prayers are with you and your family. I have such fond memories of growing up with both of you and I felt I needed to send a message. Joann Gaston King
